GET STARTED

Follow these easy steps to get started with McHacks

1. Devpost: Create a Devpost account as it is where projects will be submitted. 

2. Sign UP:  To particpiate, you need to sign up for the hackathon. Signing up is free and all you have to do is join through DevPost. You can sign up alone or with a team of up to four people.

2. Join Discord: Once you sign up, you can also join our discord channel.  This is where you can contact other participants, mentors, and the organizers. We'll also share important information like news, helpful tips, and updates.about the hackathon here. 

3. Start Hacking: You have about 4 hours to brainstorm, put your solution and presentation together and submit it on Devpost.

4. Pitch Your Project: During your presentation, don't forget to explain the problem you're solving, what your project does, and how it's innovative and feasible.

Requirements

Prompt: "Develop a Digital Wellness Hub for College Students"

Challenge:

In a span of about than 4 hours, create a simple digital solution to enhance mental wellness among college students. Your solution should address two or more of the following aspects:

  • Stress Reduction Tool: Develop a feature or tool that helps students manage and reduce stress levels. This could be a feature that guides users through calming activities.
  • Peer Support Platform: Build a platform that facilitates peer support among college students. You can include features for anonymous sharing, supportive communities, and resources for managing academic stress.
  • Daily Mindfulness Reminder: Create a tool that sends daily reminders to practice mindfulness. This could include short mindfulness exercises, breathing techniques, or positive affirmations.
  • Study Break Gamification: Develop a gamified solution that encourages students to take regular breaks during study sessions. 
  • Mental Health Resource Locator: Build a tool that provides easy access to mental health resources available on college campuses or online. You can include information about counseling services, support groups, and relevant helplines.

WHAT TO SUBMIT

  • Pitch Deck: Create a concise presentation (max of 10 slides) like powerpoint featuring the problem, solution, technical approach, challenges, and insights gained. Integrate applicable data like market research and user testing specifics.
  • GitHub Repository: Submit a GitHub repo containing any applicable code used for the solution (coding is not mandatory).
  • Additional Info (Optional): Feel free to enhance clarity with wireframes, user personas, screenshots, prototypes, or any other additional information illustrating your solution's efficacy.
